Fire Warden Training for Council Nominated Fire Wardens

Following a review of fire training by the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Services team, there are a number of changes which will come into effect from the 1st July 2017

All designated Fire Wardens will be required to carry out the new one day face to face fire warden training provided by Phoenix Services every 3 years.  To maintain skills, all Fire Wardens will be required to complete an annual E Learning refresher course for years where they are not completing face to face training.

The one day face to face fire warden training course is designed to provide an regulated level 2 qualification for fire Wardens.  The course comprises of a 3 hour morning classroom theory session outlining the roles & responsibilities of a fire warden, followed by a 3 hour afternoon session on how to use a fire extinguisher including the practical use of fire extinguishers with live fire.  A nationally recognised certificate is issued on successful completion of a short test paper.

The Fire Warden training program is appropriate for all staff who have agreed to take on the responsibilities of a Fire Warden or Site Warden role in any Council Office location.

Mandatory Fire Warden Refresher Training

The Fire Warden annual Refresher E Learning module is currently live. This E Learning refresher is only for staff that have completed and passed the above programme, it does not substitute face to face Fire Warden training.

Fire Safety Awareness Training

The Fire Safety Awareness E Learning Module is currently under development and will appear here in the future; this module is for all staff to complete as part of their annual mandatory training.
