Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Training

This course is designed for those that wish to obtain a higher category on their driving licence, which is required by law, to enable them to drive a larger class of vehicle.

Before training can commence, candidates must have had the relevant category provisionally added to their driving licence and have passed their Theory and Hazard Perception test which is bookable through the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) at a cost of £37.00. If you wish Phoenix Services to book the Theory and Hazard Perception test on your behalf we are able to do so. To do this please contact 01326 318177 where our administration team will be happy to assist you.

Training can be provided for the following class of vehicle:

Category C1

– Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and up to 7.5 tonnes. This course has a duration of 5 days.

Category C1 & E

– Candidates enrolled on this course must have already achieved C1. Category C1 & E training involves towing a trailer over 750kgs. This course has a duration of 4 days.

Category C 

– Rigid vehicles exceeding 3500kgs with no upper weight limit. This course runs across 5 days.

Category C & E 

– Candidates enrolled on this course must have already achieved C. Category C & E training involves towing a trailer over 7500kgs. This course runs across 4 days.
