Matt has been unemployed for 3 years. By his own admission Matt has not always made the right life choices. He is keen to get back to work to support his new baby. Matt is currently sofa surfing. He is open to doing any job role. Ideally Matt would like a trade and in the future would one day like to become self employed. Matt struggles with his reading and writing.
Actions Taken
Matt was referred to the Phoenix project by Helston Job Centre Plus. He attended a pre meet at the job centre a week before the course started. Matt came along to see what the course was all about, he wasn’t sure what to expect on the first day.
Summary of Benefits and Evaluation Method
Over the duration of the course the learners complete a day by day evaluation. In addition to this they complete a self assessment on the final day to identify strengths and weaknesses and to set future goals. Matt quoted that the Phoenix Course has helped me with my motivation and thinking about my life choices. I found the BA challenging and elements of the qualification because of my dyslexia.
I feel proud of myself for completing the course and was pleased that my mum who I have previously had a troubled relationship with came to support me by watching the final drill and presentation.

I have built a new network of friends from this course, I have loved it. The instructors have been approachable and easy to communicate with.
